Conditional Access Devices

Ultra-secure environment for conditional access

Our CA devices are a family of products targeted to enable highly secure means to introduce Conditional Access into STBs and iDTV. The rapid growth of iDTV sales indicates that Common Interface is a have.

  • Common Interface CAM: advanced PCMCIA CAM, enabling the maximum level of flexibility and security.
  • K1 chipset: best in class security chipset for CA applications.
  • CAMwatch: Common Interface controller with support of multiple transport streams.

Common Interface CAM

Conditional Access Modules with a PCMCIA interface to plug them into CI STBs and iDTV incorporating CI slots.

Key Features:

  • Following DVB standards.
  • Base done K1 security chip by SIDSA
  • Two program descrambling functionality. Also available a professional CAM: supporting several simultaneous services descrambling.
  • HDTV over MPEG-2 TS descrambling support.
  • H264/AVC over MPEG-2 TS descrambling support.
  • Multichannel audio support.
  • Pop-up messages supported.
  • MHP CA - Pipeline for interactive applications.
  • Multilanguage.
  • Secure HW evironment
    • Secure and stable OTA (Over The Air).
    • Tamper proof embedded security to store private CA information.
    • Not depending on specific decoder vendor.
    • No security breaches.
  • Single or Dual Smart Card Interface.
  • When working with KeyFly 2.0Xtreme no need for smart-card.
  • Multiple CA vendor simultaneous support (depending on licensing scheme).
  • Plug & Play.
  • Low power consumption.

Devices:

SIDSA CAM products, commercialised under Alhena brand, combine all these features to provide a powerful, reliable and easy-to-use product to broadcasters and end-users.

Alhena CAM: is especially suitable for horizantal markets, ensuring interoperatibility between any iDTV and Set-Top-Box, hence providing end-users with an easy-to-use plug&watch approach. Able to descramble two services simultaneously, enables picture in Picture and PVR features.

Alhena Professional CAM: targeted at broadcast operation centers, offers the most solid, reliable and powerful professional CAM able to descramble a complete transport stream within a single module providing a compact and cost-effective solution.

In our roadmap:

Alhena triple CAM
CAM incorporating KeyFly 2.0Xtreme plus support of two traditional CA systems using a double smart-card reader.

Support of CI+/CI v2.0

interactive CAM   CAM supporting enhanced MHEG-5 interactivity and user interface.

K1 chipset

The K1 chipset allows similar functionality than the CAM in a single chip, providing an extremely cost-effective and ultra-secure solution independent of decoder manufacturer and without any security breaches. It supports encrypted-TS input and clear-TS output without any interaction with the external world (in roadmap the K2 chipset supporting CI+/CI v2.0 for extra protection between K2 and decoder - no clear TS output).

A smart-card less CA system can run completely inside the K1 chipset without any possible hacking attack (the K1 chip includes all kind of security measurements and it is tamper-proof), including card-sharing.

 Key Features:

  • Internal specific cryptographic processors.
  • Internal Flash: 256Kbytes with secure storage area and unique ID.
  • Internal RAM: 144Kbytes.
  • Optional external Flash and RAM (customizable size).
  • Ethernet interface.
  • Serial and parallel transport stream support.
  • Low power (3,3 and 1.8 volt)

CAMwatch

CAMwatch is a low cost assistant for Common Interface, Cable card and in general for any application where Transport Streams are multiplexed and steered between different sources and destinations.

Applications:

  • Common Interface Set-Top-Boxes.
  • Multiple input (e.g. Satellite, Terrestrial, Cable...) Set-Top-Boxes.
  • PVR.
  • PiP (Picture in Picture).

SIDSA Strategy

SIDSA is marketing the CA devices for using them together with KeyFly 2.0Xtreme system (smart-card less) and with third party CAs (both smart-card based and smart-card less).
